Ever since it’s release in July of 2017, Fortnite has been one of the most popular games out there.

The game Fortnite Battle Royale came out on July 25, 2017. It is a free PvP / Survival type game. The way you play, is you start off in a lobby waiting for, at most, 100 people to join. When the amount needed to play have joined, you are then put inside a flying bus and have to jump out to a spot on the map. After you jump and land in a random destination, you have to start looting houses and places around you. After all this, you have to wait for the first waiting period where it shows where the circle is going to be. The circle is the safe zone. If you aren’t in the circle, you will be caught in the storm. You have have a certain amount of time to make it to the inside of the circle before the storm comes in. This process of the circle getting smaller and trying to outrun the storm is only a small problem. However you still have to worry about the other players, who are trying to survive like you. The last person standing wins the game. You don’t get anything for winning – all you get is a sense of pride and relief.

Why is Fortnite BR trending? Because it is a free game which everyone can play. When the game first came out, it wasn’t as popular as it is now, because no one thought that a free game like this would be that great. Before Fortnite BR, everyone wanted to play a similar multiplayer shooter game called Players Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG). Senior Jalen Thornley says he thinks Fortnite is now trending, ”Because it is fun and interesting. Every time you play, something different happens.” Senior Kevin Lui said, ”I like the building mechanics in the game and how it is different from PUBG because it is easier to find weapons. It’s also a lot easier to win in Fortnite than in PUBG.” Senior Julian Waterwash says, ”I don’t prefer Fortnite, but I believe it is trending because it’s free and it is also family-friendly compared to other battle royale games.”
